Walking on Jewels
A thick clear sole composed of transparent spheres reminiscent of gemstones. Each sphere is engineered to move softly in response to the motion of the foot, delivering a distinctive walking sensation and reliable grip. By controlling the flexibility of the material to achieve optimal cushioning when worn, it produces a fluffy, floating feeling that cannot be sensed by touch alone. The very fact that it carries volume while remaining transparent subverts the heaviness typically associated with thick soles.
The upper is an ankle boot design combining lace-patterned panels and fringe. Delicate patterns and flared fringe create depth and light, flowing movement. A heart-shaped buckle adds an accent to the design.

YUEQI QI
YUEQI QI was founded in 2019 and is a brand by Chinese designer Yueqi Qi, a graduate of Central Saint Martins in the UK. Drawing inspiration from traditional Chinese culture and specializing in beadwork, the brand expresses a romantic and modern vintage brand aesthetic, and was selected as a semi-finalist for the LVMH Prize 2022.
